Rivals and "smack talk"
0

This is just an attempt to try and clarify.

Rivals are important to the growth of our home here. They bring different view points to the threads, they expand the topics created. Rivals can make the forums much more interesting. We don't currently have any rivals we wish would not post. They are a good group of guys.

Smack talk is not an important part of the growth of these boards. In fact if it is overdone it takes away and turns people off. that is why we have rules regarding where it is appropriate and to what extent is acceptable. The only sub forum that is free game for smack is the Rivals Forum. Saying that, even there if a poster makes it clear that they want to keep a thread free of that kind of posting, the request needs to be honored.

Does that mean we can not joke around anywhere else? Absolutely not. There will always be little shots and jabs made. Outside of the Rivals Forum they need to be clean and short. Use a little more care to word things in a way that wont antagonize anyone. That goes for all members! Bears fans don't get free shots at rivals. It has gotten out of hand lately. Part of that is on us Mods, we try hard not to over regulate and let you guys be yourselves. Most of the time the members here do a great job of it.

I am going to be a little more strict on enforcing smack talk outside of the Rivals Forum. Nobody needs to be on guard, worried about moderation, but if you go back to a thread and see your posts are not there.... If something is deleted and you think it should not have been PM me. Otherwise I likely won't even bring it up. On that note, Just a reminder, when a post is deleted ALL replies and quotes to that post get deleted too. If you are not directly quoting someone it is always best to use the reply button at the top or bottom of the page, not the one in a persons post.

I hope this makes sense to everyone. If there are any questions let me know. I can only say that this applies to everyone, and almost all of us are guilty at times. Don't think that you are at risk of personal moderation if you see one of your post disappear. If that was the case you would be getting a warning in a PM.

This is totally wrong and will drive posters away. Post should never be restricted because its a rival, and why in the hell do we have a rival section, it's not need if everyone here was able to post what they want in any thread.  Posters should be able to post what they want unless it's directed at another poster, without someone telling them they can't post or say that because it's the wrong board. You want to grow this board they quit restricting rival posters from posting what they want, as long as it isn't in bad taste.

Bears fans are getting butt hurt because we are play badly, and rival I saying the true, so instead of taking it like they should they want to tell them to stay in the rival section which is wrong. If we were winning and the Loins or Packers were losing we would be talking smack to them all over this board, so why do we restrict them.

For the record, I have no problem with people trying to smack me to any length. Quite honestly I get a kick out of it.

I agree, smack talk as long as it doesn't get out of hand or become personal can be a lot of fun.
